Breathing—aah!

Breathing we all know it is important!  But do you know why?  We need oxygen!  Oxygen is necessary for our cells to live and function properly.  We need to supply oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.   Many things can impact our breathing.  This month we will look at some of the respiratory conditions and how you can reduce the impact on your life.  Don’t forget to read the August Newsletter and follow the calendar for well-being tips!  My favorite of the month…August 8, Yoga for improved respiratory health.

A common cold will remind you very quickly how uncomfortable you are when breathing is neither efficient nor sufficient.  We can experience foggy thinking, appetite changes, irritability, and more.   When we don’t get enough of the good stuff (aka: oxygen), our bodies can suffer.

Common recommendations on how to prevent the common cold include: *wash your hands frequently, *don’t touch your face (mouth, eyes, nose) without washing your hands first, *sanitize your home environment (especially if other members of your family are sick), and *keep your distance from others who are sick!  These are all ways we can address the external factors which can contribute to illness.

BUT!  Did you know there are plenty of ways to build your immune system & prevent common colds from the INSIDE out.  These methods can also help prevent other illnesses including chronic illnesses, such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, & many others.

Improve your immune system strength! Do you get quality sleep, exercise daily, eat those fruits and veggies?  And just those who are sick can contribute to the wearing down of our immune system, so can the following five types of foods/beverages.  Your body will treat you as you treat your body!

If you do get a cold, try adding these healthy, natural remedies in addition to contacting your health care provider.  Did you know Balanced Wellness now offers Telemedicine Services?
