World Environment Day

This Friday, June 5th, is World Environment Day. While it is so special that we dedicate a whole day to admiring this beautiful planet we live on, it is so crucial that we take care of it EVERY day.

As Vincent Van Gogh once said“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” We can take his words and apply them to so many issues across the globe, but one problem that we should apply them to NOW is the environmental decay taking place all over the world due to OUR actions. Simply put, if we begin implementing small changes– every day, in every household– we can very quickly turn around the negative side effects our inconsiderate behavior has had on our earth.

  • Switch to reusable cups and bags. Reusable cups and bags are inexpensive! Make an investment and start using them instead of throw-away plastic cups and bags.
  • Plant a garden. With the right plants and flowers, you could help shelter and feed bees, frogs, toads, and more! Bees are responsible for pollinating, and according to the Honey Bee Conservancy, “Pollinators are responsible for nearly one in every three bites of food you eat.”
  • Eat less meat and dairy products. Many studies are showing that, at the rate we’re releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from meat and dairy production, we’ll be in big trouble in the near future!
  • Recycle. Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Recycling is as easy as checking the container for the recycle label and placing it in a separate container from your normal garbage can. Once you’ve collected enough items, Google search the nearest recycling center to you and hop in the car!
